I am confused as to your name. Are you the Texarkana Baptist Church? Or are you the Reformed Baptist Church? If Reformed, then what was the Baptist Church before it was “reformed”?? Was it wrong? All the ppl that worshiped with you before you reformed, are they wrong? Were they not saved? Will they need to be saved again? I don’t understand. Thank you, Carolyn

Hello, Miss/Mrs. Carolyn. Thanks so much for dropping by and for your questions, Ma’am. Allow me to address them.

    1. Concerning our name, allow me to quote from the “About Us” section of the website:

We are Baptists in the historical sense of the word. Thus, to distinguish ourselves from the majority of Baptists today, who have settled down into what might be called the Baptist tradition, we have chosen to use the title Reformed Baptist. (We certainly do not want to be identified with some “Baptists” who have gone so far as to deny the truth and accuracy of the Holy Scriptures.) The word Reformed itself dates back to the 15th and 16th centuries and the Protestant Reformation. At that time the prevailing church had become corrupt both in belief and practice. The Reformers in Europe sought to correct these abuses of God’s Word. They took the Bible to be the sole authority for faith and life and sought to conform to it. It is with this same belief in Scripture as authoritative and the same desire to conform to its teachings that we use the word Reformed today.

By doing so, we suggest the following things:

-That God is all powerful and is not in any way limited by man

-That the Bible alone is our authority in every area of life

-That we are not perfect; thus, we are to continually examine ourselves, our homes, our church, and our institutions, in the light of Scripture and make corrections where there are deficiencies.

If you would like to read more concerning this you may click here to read about our beliefs in further detail.

    2. I’m not really certain concerning “all the ppl that worshiped with [us] before” as to why you may think we have implied that those folks are “not saved.” We believe that “whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord,” repents, and places their only hope and faith in the Christ of Scripture is a Christian.

I hope these answers have clarified any misunderstanding. If not, I would certainly invite you to visit the Church at any of our stated services. In fact, we have a prayer meeting tonight at 7:00 pm, if you’d be so inclined. We also have Sunday School and Worship on the Lord’s Day beginning 10:00 am.

If neither of those are options right now, please feel free to contact me or one of the elders by the contact form which can be accessed via the link at the top of the page. I hope you have a great day, Ma’am.

    In Christ,

    Josh Hicks
