Russ Bennett

Russ Bennett was converted to Christ at the age of 17 in 1962.  Shortly thereafter, he felt the call of God on his life for the ministry.  After graduating from High School in Ithaca, New York, Russ attended Baptist Bible Seminary and graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree in 1968.  While in Bible School, he married Marie Robinson who also graduated at the same time with a Bachelor’s Degree.  They have two grown sons and two grandsons.

Russ was ordained at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Ithaca, New York in 1969 and has served in various capacities such as Pastor, song leader and Sunday School teacher throughout his life.  In 1999 he was elected to the Arkansas Legislature and served three terms in the Arkansas House of Representatives.  He was term limited in 2004.  In 2005, along with several Baptist pastors, he co-founded South Arkansas Christian School in Lewisville, Arkansas.  Russ served as Headmaster for the first 5 years of its existence and still serves part-time as the Financial Development officer of the School.

In 2000, after examining and then believing in the Doctrines of Grace, Russ and his wife joined Texarkana Reformed Baptist Church.  He has served as song leader there for the past 9 years and was called to the Eldership of the Church in 2011.
